Freezing Temps and Indoor Soccer

Brrrr… January kicked off with some cold days, but lucky for our players, they’ve been able to continue training and competing all Winter long. Our Green and Blue teams from Select and Academy have been battling all Winter long in the hopes of bringing home a league championship for PFC.

Meanwhile, the PFC Winter Indoor Soccer League has also been in full swing. Player in that league have also been training hard and improving this offseason.

We are so excited to see what all of these teams can do when they get back outside this month!!

If you still want to join a team, scroll below to see all of our available programs with links to registration info!

HAPPY NGWSD!

DID YOU KNOW that February 4th is National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD)? This day is important to us because we celebrate all of our female athletes, their past accomplishments, and their bright futures in sports.

Statistically, most girls who play sports have higher self confidence, better academic performance, higher rates of graduation, lower risk of some diseases, better bone health, and reduced rates of depression among their peers. Additionally, sports teach girls to refine their leadership and communication skills, teamwork, creativity, conflict resolution, stress management, and social skills.

For more information about the importance of girl’s and women’s sports, visit the Women’s Sports Foundation website. And lastly, visit our Coach Bio page to read about the amazing women that coach at PFC!

FEATURED GUESTS

NEW for 2026! Each month I will be featuring someone in the club who has made a positive impact in one way or another. This may be a board member, staff member, coach, or volunteer. If you would like to nominate someone, email me!

Meet Coaches Evan Boulay & Chris Barraza

Coach Evan and Coach Chris are two of PFC’s volunteer Recreational coaches. Together they co-coach the 2015 Boys Hooligans team. This team is heading into the Spring season after a very successful Fall!

  • CAYSA DIII - Fall Champions

  • Pfall Cup Tournament (Bronze I Div) - Champions

  • South Texas Fall Championship - 2nd place Finalists

The team will also be competing in the Barca Academy President’s Day pre-season tournament February 14-15.

As both a parent and coach, I am just so proud of our kids and cant wait to see them continue to grow as individuals and athletes for many seasons to come!
— Coach Evan Boulay

Coach Chris was the OG Hooligans coach. He began coaching his son’s team because he is passionate about sports in general, but says that soccer was his first love. Sharing that passion with his son and his friends is what made him decide to step in as the volunteer head coach.

In order to gear up for the inaugural Pfall Cup tournament, Coach Chris invited Coach Evan (who’s son Carter also plays on the team) to help prepare the boys. He says that at first, he was only planning to help out up until the tournament before returning to the sideline to cheer. However, he says that he had such a great experience alongside Coach Chris that he was happy to continue beyond that.

Q: What are the responsibilities of a volunteer coach?
Chris: “Prepare the team for game day on a weekly basis through individual and team drills. Motivate the kids to give their full and true effort without cheating themselves and their teammates.
Evan: “Our responsibility as coaches is to help the players develop a real love for the game while continuing to build their technical skills, understanding of the game, and confidence on the field. We try to create an environment that’s both positive and competitive, where players are challenged, supported, and able to grow together.”

Q: What is the most rewarding part of your role?
Chris: “Seeing the our kids build that chemistry and camaraderie on and off the field. It’s so fun to watch them have a great time together and watch their hard work pay off.
Evan: “The most rewarding part of my role is watching these boys build such a strong bond, both on and off the field. Some of them have been playing together since U6, and it’s been incredible to see the way they embrace every new challenge together. Their camaraderie has helped them achieve some amazing success over the years, and they’re always eager for what comes next. It’s incredibly inspiring to watch them play their hearts out for one another and leave everything on the field.

We greatly appreciate ALL of the volunteer coaches in our PAYSL league. You are all very special and the league literally would not run without you. For anyone who has stepped up and taken on this role, THANK YOU FROM PFC!

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer coach this season, please reach out to the Recreational VP’s!

The Hooligans and the HooliParents are awesome and we couldn’t do it without their full support. Evan and I are lucky to have such a great team around us and that’s what’s driven our success!
— Coach Chris Barraza
